Converse and world renowned artist Parra will launch a collab Chuck Taylor Hi Top for Converse’s Product (RED) series on August 28th, 2010, and MAJOR will be one of the select destinations that will launch this special edition shoe.

Artist, illustrator, graphic designer and music maker, Pieter “Parra” Janssen, forged his name as a graphic artist early-on. Hailing from Amsterdam, he is now widely known for his eye-catching colorful characters, cheeky posters, numerous design collaborations, his band Le Le and his clothing company Rockwell.

For his version of the Chuck Taylor All Star shoe, Parra chose to create a khaki suede version featuring a playful take on prep. In true Parra spirit, the pattern is a departure from the standard repeat print and features a more ironic version with cherries complete with legs and stiletto heels. “I wanted to incorporate the color red, and cherries came up. I wanted to go for a kind of preppy look, but I didn’t want it to be so serious, so I incorporated the cherry character!” says Parra. Even the lining evokes that country club feel with a menswear cotton twill in a stand-out dark pink. Accenting the shoe, monochromatic bright white rubber makes up the shoe’s rubber rands.

Launching Friday, August 20th, 2010, it’s another super exclusive Converse First String Release at MAJOR!

A champion of the underground, SSUR has been an influential and constant force in the downtown New York City art scene for the past 15 years. During his reign, SSUR has never stopped exploring complex themes in his often rebellious, provocative and thoughtful expressions.

SSUR’s version of the Converse Pro Leather 1976 shoe is no different. Like much of his work, the shoe is black–a nod to the color of asphalt and the grit of the streets.  Its silhouette is constructed of a clean, simple, black nubuck suede upper with subtle perforated Star Chevron branding and a clean neoprene tongue, giving it an unmistakably sleek and refined look and feel.  Metallic gold shark-tooth jewelry and an image of a “great black shark” on the foot bed reinforce status on the streets and a metallic gold embroidered SSUR signature and skull and crossbones round-out the overall design of the classic kicks.

Developed using a slightly updated model of the classic Pro Leather 1976, this version takes the classic style of the original and incorporates premium, modern updates.

This release is limited to 150 pairs in the US.  Available in US Men’s Whole Sizes only from 8 to 13.

Arriving now at MAJOR, it’s the highly anticipated follow up to the collaboration between Converse and Takahiro Miyashita’s Number (N)ine label.

Converse worked closely with Takahiro to create his interpretations of the Chuck Taylor All Star and One Star shoes, which Takahiro considers “authentic and permanent”. Taking a hybrid approach, Takahiro chose to incorporate the asymmetrical lacing of the 1970 and ‘80s era Converse Odessa shoe into his design. The Odessa shoe, which was originally designed for running, was super innovative for its time and a shoe from the Converse archives that Takahiro has long admired.

The collection includes an oxford version of the Chuck Taylor All Star shoe with premium deer skin, black shag suede uppers, asymmetrical lacing and a metallic black star on the shoe’s heel. A One Star version is also available in premium deer skin black shag suede uppers, asymmetrical lacing and a black metallic star on the shoe’s heel.

This is an extremely limited (less than 300 pairs for the US) Converse release.

Converse brings out another iconic silhouette to MAJOR, as we present the latest limited First String Standards release, Matchpoint III OX in Black/White & Parchment colorways.

Carrying DNA from an original 1970s era silhouette, this shoe, originally designed for court sports, has an ultra-clean, updated look with monochromatic suede uppers that contrast with simple white soles. Subtle, sharp details are added as well, like a simple cut-out star on the shoe’s heel.  Available from size 8 through 13 US.

Another exclusive addition to MAJOR from Converse is the Chuck Taylor Flag Hi in Black/Silver, which gives the classic Chuck Taylor a punk rock twist with denim and satin striped upper, and metal studs to make up the flag pattern.

MAJOR is pleased to announce the arrival of Number (N)ine for Converse Collection for Spring 2010. Some of the last Number (N)ine products available from Takahiro Miyashita’s highly sought-after label, the collection includes a Chuck Taylor All Star and a pair of One Star shoes. MAJOR presents the newest Converse Product (RED) limited release from artist Robert Indiana.

Using what is the signature, exclusive Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette for First String, this shoe echoes the familiar Chuck, but has unique features like a higher rubber rand, a vintage rubber license plate logo and a premium comfort system. Originally made for the military in the 1960s, the First String versions have a clean modern feel with monochromatic rubber outsoles and chambray uppers with contrast stitching.
