MAJOR is proud to be one of select few retail destinations in North America to carry the debut line of Converse First String Standards Series Chuck Taylor OX in Moonlight Blue Chambray & Black Chambray.

Using what is the signature, exclusive Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette for First String, this shoe echoes the familiar Chuck, but has unique features like a higher rubber rand, a vintage rubber license plate logo and a premium comfort system. Originally made for the military in the 1960s, the First String versions have a clean modern feel with monochromatic rubber outsoles and chambray uppers with contrast stitching.

Today, December 26th, 2009, Converse presents the third and final colorway of the Hiroshi Fujiwara for Converse Chuck Taylor All Star.  Starting with the original release of the Black colorway in September 2007, followed by his contribution to Converse 1HUND(RED) Artists in a red colorway in April 2008, the final release features the same monochromatic upper with matching toe-cap in a Navy execution.  This is an extremely limited release, limited to less than 350 pairs in the US.

Phone orders, if any sizes are available, will be taken on Sunday, December 27th.

Earlier this month, The Converse (PRODUCT)RED Leather Jacket Chuck Taylor All Star launched at The (RED) Store locations in New York, San Francisco & London on World AIDS Day.  Finally, on Christmas Eve at Noon, good folks in DC will get a chance to cop these special shoes at MAJOR!

Made up of a patchwork of motorcycle jacket inspired red leather, the shoe comes complete with a quilted lining, heavy-duty zips and snaps and a leather rand with clean emboss detail.

For the Holiday season, Converse chose 6 select retailers in the US, including MAJOR, to launch these high tops.  The shoes will retail for $200 and will be available in Men’s 7 through 12, whole sizes only.  Ten percent of the net wholesale price of the shoe will go to The Global Fund help eliminate AIDS in Africa, giving consumers an opportunity to become agents of change.

MAJOR is very pleased to announce the launch of the Women’s exclusive Converse (Product) Red Chuck Taylor by Vena Cava, on Saturday, December 5th.

Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock were fated to work together. When just out of high school, a mutual friend introduced them in LA. they soon started their own clothing line, Vena Cava. “It started mainly as a way to have a party and show our friends the clothes we’d made. It developed into a mini collection that was shown during fashion week.” And not long after that it started making fashion headlines and getting worn by the young and stylish—and famous.

For Converse 1HUND(RED) Artists, the Vena Cava girls did a version of their Havisu print, which captures their aesthetic, a combination of deco and Native American. “We want to wear it and we want our friends to wear it of course,” Buhai says. “If we designed a shoe that in even a small way helps with the AIDS situation in Africa, then we’re happy to do so.”

On Saturday, November 14th, we will be releasing a very special collection of footwear and apparel from our friends at Patta & LeLe in Netherlands, who got together with Converse to celebrate Patta’s 5 years in the business.

The collection consists of 2 pairs of shoes, and a reversible varsity jacket, all using the colors, Cranberry and Drizzle Grey.

Patta Converse LeLe Varsity Jacket is the actual inspiration behind both the Converse Pro Leather 76 and Chuck Taylor All Star in this collection.  This classic and timeless design is an iconic American varsity jacket, before the melton wool and leather sleeve versions became the standard.  Patta & LeLe design team gave it a slight twist, making this jacket a reversible one.  One side is heavy duty cranberry (burgundy) corduroy with white Patta script logo embroidery, while the flipside is the quilted drizzle grey fleece with a LeLe logo patch.

The Chuck Taylor All Star Patta comes in a Hi Top with the heather gray diamond quilt pattern on the outer with the burgundy corduroy for the lining.

The Pro Leather 76 Hi is the mirrored opposite of CT All Star Parra with burgundy corduroy for the outer, and the heather gray diamond quilt pattern for the lining.

Jackets are available in S to L, CT All Star Parra Drizzle is available in sizes from 7 to 13, and Pro Leather 76 Hi is available in sizes from 8 to 13.

On Saturday, August 29th, MAJOR will be the destination to buy the latest great collaboration project from our friends at Converse 1HUND(RED) and Ian Ginoza, the cofounder of Kicks Hawaii, Leilow, and St. Alfred.

We’ve known Ian for a number of years, and he brings his expertise in footwear product to create this white & red Jack Purcell 3 Strap Velcro OX in water resistant Epi Leather, the same material used to grace the surface of some of the most well known luggages and purses by Louis Vuitton.

This shoe is limited to less than 500 units in the US, and will only be available at high end boutiques like MAJOR.  Available in sizes 7 US Men’s to 13 US Men’s.
