September 2010

All of us at MAJOR are honored to be a launch destination of the first collaborative effort between Jordan Brand and NYC artist, Vashtie Kola.

This is the first time that Jordan Brand is paying homage to all the female sneakerheads that are just as passionate about kicks as the guys, but rock them with much more flair.

Vashtie, the Downtown’s Sweetheart, well known in both music industry and fashion industry as an innovator and a style icon, was approached by Jordan Brand to work on a collab that is strictly for the ladies.

The end result is this beautiful lavender Jordan Retro II, which will be sold this Saturday, October 2nd at MAJOR (we will open at 11 a.m.).

Available in Kids Sizes 4 to 7 (which is 5.5 to 8.5 in Women’s Sizes).  Phone orders will be taken at 12 Noon, if there are any sizes left.

Available now at MAJOR, both in-store & online, it’s the latest Product RED collaboration from Converse, designed by New York-based artist, Gio Estevez.

As New York as they come, Gio Estevez grew up watching some of the greatest artists of the 20th century make their mark on the subways and streets of the city. Inspired, Gio embarked on a career as an artist which has led him to his current clothing design project “ANX”, as well as sizable backlog of designs, illustrations, paintings and collaborations along the way. His version of the Chuck Taylor All Star shoe is monochrome black, simple and clean. It also serves as a canvas for a unique embroidered design taken from a series of illustrations that Gio has become recognized for. “It’s not something easily explained, but the drawing represents how I feel about New York City,” says Gio of his vertical, horizontal, frenetic, and beautiful illustration. Subtle and clean, the black on black embroidery is placed on heavy-duty, rain-resistant, twill. “I love to wear canvas Chucks year-round and wanted to create a pair with a canvas that can stand up to NYC weather,” he says. Rounding out the design, the tongue and foot bed features designs that echo his artwork as well as his signature.

Gio of Supreme NYC has worked with numeours brands including…Number (N)ine, Mo Wax, Burton, Real Skateboards, as well as others.  This is his first collaboration with Converse.  The shoes are limited to 250 pairs in the US, and only available at Converse First String Accounts.

They are the first Fall releases of Converse First String Standards, and they’re here at MAJOR now!

Converse Matchpoint III OX in Denim/Brown & Grey/Brown colorways are definitely Converse & distinctly First String.

Carrying the DNA from an original 1970s era silhouette, this shoe, originally designed for court sports has an updated look that features a monochromatic poplin cotton upper and constrasting white sole. Details such as cut-out star on the shoes’ leather heel and an ultra comfortable footbed cushion give these shoes premium distinction and style.

Even if you’re not a diehard Reskins fan, you know who Chris Cooley is, and you know what he does for living, right? As the pro football season is ready to get into the real season, we are proud to bring out one of the best players in the game, one of the most liked personalities in all sports, AND a Pro Bowl tight end for our Redskins, Chris Cooley (No. 47) for a special in-store event, brought to you by our friends at Orisue Clothing.
2 different collab t-shirts (Chris Cooley x Orisue x MAJOR) in limited numbers will be sold at the event, along with an opportunity to meet Chris Cooley himself, and grab a drink (if you’re over 21). If you are under 21 or don’t drink, our friends from Amp will have plenty of energy drink to make sure that you are not tired to go out on Friday night!

We are psyched to have Chris at our in-store, along with other special surprise guests, and we look forward to the official kickoff of the Redskins on September 12th (Sunday night football), when the Skins take on Dallas to go 1-0 on the season!
